Leeds and Burnley both won on Monday to confirm promotion from the Championship

Leeds United and Burnley have secured their return to the Premier League following a dramatic Easter Monday in the Championship.

Both clubs sealed automatic promotion after Burnley defeated third-placed Sheffield United 2-1 at Turf Moor.

The victory came just hours after Leeds thrashed Stoke City 6-0 at Elland Road in a commanding display.

The two sides now sit level on 94 points with two matches remaining, setting up an exciting race for the Championship title.

Joel Piroe was the star of the show for Leeds, netting an incredible four goals in their demolition of Stoke City.

The Dutch striker's remarkable first-half performance propelled him to the top of the Championship scoring charts with 19 goals this season.

Leeds' comprehensive victory was rounded off with additional goals from Junior Firpo and Wilfried Gnonto.

The 6-0 thrashing showcased the attacking prowess that has made Farke's side the Championship's most potent offensive unit, having scored 89 goals this term.

Burnley's Josh Brownhill proved to be the hero at Turf Moor, scoring twice in the first half to secure the crucial victory.

His brace against Sheffield United mathematically confirmed promotion for both Burnley and Leeds, sparking jubilant celebrations across Lancashire and Yorkshire.

The Blades pulled one back but couldn't overcome Brownhill's decisive contribution in the evening kick-off.

Scott Parker's side showed their defensive resilience once again to hold on for the win that sealed their Premier League return.

Leeds return to the Premier League after a two-season absence, having been relegated at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Daniel Farke's side narrowly missed out on promotion last season after being beaten by Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

For Burnley, the stay in the Championship has been even briefer, with the Clarets bouncing straight back up after just 12 months in the second tier.

Scott Parker took over following Vincent Kompany's departure to Bayern Munich and has guided the Lancashire club back to the top flight at the first attempt.

Both clubs are led by managers with Premier League experience, with Farke having previously achieved promotion with Norwich City twice.

The two promoted sides have displayed contrasting but equally effective approaches to securing their Premier League returns.

Leeds have been the Championship's most devastating attacking force, scoring 89 goals and establishing an impressive +60 goal difference from their 44 matches played.

Farke's men have lost just four times throughout their campaign, demonstrating remarkable consistency.

Burnley, meanwhile, have built their success on defensive solidity, conceding a mere 15 goals all season under Parker's disciplined organisation.

The Clarets have suffered only two defeats in the entire Championship campaign, an extraordinary record that underlines their promotion credentials.

Both clubs have now set their sights on claiming the Championship title in their remaining two fixtures.

Sheffield United's defeat means they are now guaranteed to finish third in the Championship, eight points behind the top two.

The Blades will enter the promotion playoffs, facing the sixth-placed team in the first round.

Should Chris Wilder's side win that encounter, they'll meet the victor of the match between the fourth and fifth-placed teams at Wembley Stadium on May 24.

That final is often referred to as "the richest game in sports" due to the financial windfall awaiting the winner.

Sheffield United have struggled for form in recent weeks, which ultimately cost them in the automatic promotion race.

The South Yorkshire club will now hope to join Leeds and Burnley in securing a swift return to the Premier League via the playoff route.
