Lee Carsley has admitted he has been chucked in at the deep end after two wins out of two in his first England matches in charge.
Having stepped up from his role with the Under-21s, Carsley took on the role of interim coach of England following Gareth Southgate's resignation two days after the Euro 2024 final, losing to Spain.
While it has been nearly two months since a fixture, Carsley got the chance to make a case to the FA that he could be trusted permanently - beating Republic of Ireland and Finland 2-0 each in Nations League matches.
Several managers have been tipped for the role including Graham Potter and Eddie Howe.

But Carsley revealed he has had his life changed since moving into the interim post.
"I don't feel comfortable," he admitted.
"I've been out my comfort zone in this international window. It's been enjoyable but I've had to make sure I'm producing high standards.
"We do as good a job as we can. It's about building on that now."
The England manager's job is arguably the biggest position a coach can aspire to in this country and there have been plenty that have not met the requirements in a sink-or-swim post.

Carsley will be in charge of England's next round of games in October when the Nations League returns.
And this time, he will likely have a full strength side with Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer among those who missed out this week.
Whether Harry Kane can take continue his rich form for England remains to be seen, too, as he concentrates on trying to win the Bundesliga back for Bayern Munich.
But the 31-year-old was electric against Finland on what was his 100th cap for the Three Lions.

His second-half double made sure England left Wembley with all three points on Tuesday night and Carsley was in awe of the superstar striker.
It saw the former Tottenham man move to 68 goals for his country - pushing him further in the all-time goalscorer list for the Three Lions.
He is now 15 ahead of Wayne Rooney while the next top scorer in the current squad is Bukayo Saka with 12.

"Harry took his goals really well, a big occasion for him," Carsley added.
"Kids being here, an emotional night, but really happy for Harry. He fully deserves all the plaudits.
"What I have noticed this week is he is highly motivated to play for England and score goals and to have a centre forward like that, hopefully it continues."
