A fan has gone to hospital after falling ill in the stands

The League One clash between Wrexham and Wycombe was suspended on Saturday following a medical emergency in the crowd.

The incident caused a lengthy delay as medical staff attended to a supporter in the stands.


Match officials directed both teams to return to their dressing rooms whilst the situation was being handled.

The game was paused with the clock showing 76:25, as attention turned to the medical emergency unfolding in the stadium.

Several doctors were called to assist the supporter, with stewards holding flags and banners around the area to ensure privacy during treatment.

Multiple social media reports suggested the fan had signalled for help after realising the seriousness of their condition.

The medical emergency resulted in a significant pause in play as medical professionals worked to stabilise the supporter.

Throughout the delay, stadium staff maintained a protective barrier around the scene to respect the dignity of the affected fan.

Seventeen minutes after the suspension was announced, Wycombe confirmed on social media platform X that the situation had been resolved.

'The medical incident has been resolved and the supporter is on the way to hospital with our very best wishes,' the club posted.

They added: 'Play will resume with the clock at 76:25 after both sets of players are given 10 minutes to warm up. Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding.'

The announcement brought relief to concerned spectators as preparations began for the match to continue.

The match resumed at 5:21pm with a corner for Wycombe, following the 10-minute warm-up period for both teams.

Just minutes after play restarted, Wycombe took the lead through Sam Smith, who scored in the 78th minute.

This goal came as a blow to the home side Wrexham, who found themselves behind shortly after the medical emergency delay.
