The 41-year-old won't be working on Match of the Day or The One Show

Jermaine Jenas is 'not happy' the BBC's decision to sack him after allegations of 'inappropriate behaviour', according to reports.

It emerged earlier on Thursday that the 41-year-old had been axed by the Beeb following an internal investigation.

But The Sun say Jenas is 'not happy' with the decision and will battle to clear his name.

The former Tottenham and Newcastle star has been taken off air from Match of the Day and The One Show, where he often presented alongside Alex Jones.

BBC colleagues have been informed of his axing and have reportedly been left stunned by his sudden departure.

A source told the Mail: "It all came as a massive shock but his colleagues have now been told the news and he won't be back.

"His colleagues are stunned, they didn't see it coming at all. They were kept in the dark to start with. They couldn't believe it when they found out."

Another source informed the Sun that Jenas' exit is a 'categorical nightmare' for the BBC.

They said: "Complaints were raised concerning Jermaine's behaviour.

"After some immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract.

"The BBC's new Director of Sport Alex Kay-Jelski has been heavily involved in this whole process, and is adamant that his new house is firmly in order, and there are no skeletons.

Jenas is adamant that he will be able to clear his name and has split from his long-term agents MC Saatchi amid the crisis.

Whether the former England international takes the matter to court remains to be seen but he has sought legal advice from his lawyers.

Jenas had eyed taking over Gary Lineker's post as lead anchor of Match of the Day and had been seen as the frontrunner for the job.

He said in October 2021: “Match Of The Day is the biggest job on television, and if I ever got the opportunity of course I’d say yes.

"When Gary decides to call it a day, I’m sure the BBC will have a look around and decide who’s the best fit for the job.”
