Football fans have criticised Jermaine Jenas after he made a commentary error during Brighton's draw with Wolves on Monday night.

The two Premier League sides played out a goalless draw at the Amex Stadium, with Brighton leapfrogging Manchester United following the stalemate.

Jenas was on commentary duty for TNT Sports.

However, he kept making the same mistake by calling Jason Steele 'Luke' - with fans on social media unable to hide their disdain.

One user said: "Listening to Jermaine jenas on commentary for 2 hours is a form of torture."

A second raged: "Someone tell Jermaine Jenas that Steele’s first name is Jason #bhafc @footballontnt."

A third said: "While we're on the subject of Jermaine Jenas repeatedly calling Jason Steele Luke Steele tonight, I won't forget when Robbie Savage continually called Kyle Walker-Peters Danny Rose for a match.

"They're both awful pundits and commentators."

A fourth fumed: "Jermaine Jenas is awful ffs man. 'Luke Steele.'

A fifth said: "Someone wanna tell Jermaine Jenas that the GK’s name is Jason Steele and not Luke."

And a sixth stated: "How many more times is Jermaine Jenas going to call the Brighton keeper Luke Steele before someone corrects him."

Jason Steele has made 13 appearances for Brighton this season, having been at the club ever since 2018.

He has had spells at Sunderland, Blackburn, Northampton Town and Middlesbrough during the course of his career.

Luke Steele, who Jenas mistook the Brighton goalkeeper for, is manager of National League North side Peterborough Sports.

He came through the Peterborough United academy before joining Manchester United in 2001.

Steele moved to Old Trafford on a permanent basis the following year, though didn't play a senior game for the Red Devils.

He had spells at Coventry City, West Brom, Barnsley, Panathinaikos, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall before hanging up his boots in 2020.

Meanwhile, speaking after the draw between Brighton and Wolves, Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi was downbeat with the result.

“I’m disappointed with the result. I think we played well enough to win the game," he said.

“We created the right chances to score.

“In the first half we created two or three situations to score and we conceded one shot from 25 metres.

“In the second half we controlled the game. We lost two balls and we conceded two counter attacks.

“After that I think we played well.

“We didn’t play the best game in my time but anyway we created the condition to win the game.

“We made some mistakes in the crucial part of the pitch and for it we didn’t win.”

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil added: " We always had that threat.

"Pedro Neto was good, probably played a little bit longer than we would have liked ideally.

"I just felt there was still a goal in him so tried to push him a little bit more than was ideal but pleased that he got through it.

"Hopefully over the next few days we can do something in the window that can help us in that area.

"Until then we work hard to try and maximise what we have in the room and I felt we did that well today.

"The main thing was we looked like a team, we stuck together and when it got tough in certain situations we looked like we could cope and always had that threat."
