Jermaine Jenas was axed after alleged 'inappropriate behaviour' at the BBC
The BBC took several weeks to come to a decision on Jermaine Jenas after sacking him on Thursday.
Jenas had his contract terminated with the Beeb after being accused of 'inappropriate behaviour' following allegations he sent unsolicited messages to a female member of staff.
The BBC admitted that they opened an investigation 'a few weeks ago' before it was reported that Jenas had been axed on Thursday.
However, they failed to divulge further details on the case and whether or not a decision was made earlier than when it was reported.

Jenas was bizarrely speaking live on talkSPORT at the time of the announcement, though failed to acknowledge the bombshell news.
He did speak to talkSPORT after his show concluded, insisting that he would speak to his lawyers and there was 'two sides to every story'.
"I can't really talk about it."
"As you can probably see, I am not happy about it."
When Jenas was asked if he was surprised by the complaints made against him, he replied: "I can't really talk right now.
"I've just got to leave this to a team of lawyers at the minute who are, yeah, I suppose just managing the situation," he said.
"This is... yeah, it's tough, you know. But I've got to listen to my lawyers."
Jenas had been one of the regular presenters on The One Show alongside Alex Jones and Ronan Keating.
The former England international had also been tipped to take over Gary Lineker's role as presenter of Match of the Day.
Indeed, Lineker had previously remarked: “Jermaine is my natural successor — I think he’s doing well.”

As well as being dropped by the BBC, his talkSPORT slot on Friday afternoon was also called off.
TNT Sports also made their position clear by revealing that he would not work with them for the rest of the month.
