The former Premier League star is already plotting a return to the public eye

Jermaine Jenas is set to star in a new golf series alongside several England legends amid a return to life in the public eye.

The former BBC presenter was sacked in August after a workplace scandal involving inappropriate messaging of female co-workers.

After posting a grovelling apology, the ex-England international has largely kept out of the spotlight.

However, Jenas did reveal in an Instagram video late last year that he was planning on making a comeback in the coming months - and those plans are starting to be realised.

As well as a controversial return to radio ahead of the Premier League action this weekend, Jenas has been invited to take part in a new golf series across the globe.

Called the 'Icons Series', the brand describes itself as the 'biggest, boldest cross-section of world class athletes and fans' and an event between Team England and Team World will go ahead over March 1-2 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The two teams, captained by legendary golfers Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia for Team England and Team World respectively, will include two teams of former professional footballers doing battle in south-east Asia at Robinswood GC.

Jenas joins Team England alongside fellow former Premier League stars like John Terry, Robbie Fowler and Paul Scholes.

On the other side, top stars such as Luis Figo, Gianfranco Zola and David Ginola, as well as Carlos Tevez, Nemanja Vidic and Diego Forlan.

Jenas was dismissed by the BBC last August after explicit texts were sent to two female employees.

At the time, the former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder was presenting The One Show, as well as appearing as a pundit on Match of the Day.

His other media duties included roles with TNT Sports and talkSPORT, who he has not worked with since the incident - though that looks set to change.

The 41-year-old conducted an interview with The Sun in the aftermath to apologise to his wife Ellie Penfold, who he has been married to for 14 years and has three children with.

"I feel ashamed. I feel I've let everybody down - friends, family, colleagues," Jenas said after confessing to the allegations.

He also went on to criticise the BBC, saying: "The handling of the situation wasn't great. It was quick — and hell. I don't think there was a game plan for when they were going to announce they'd fired me."
