Gary Lineker blasts Chelsea star for 'closing his eyes' in draw with Arsenal

Gary Lineker has accused Malo Gusto of 'closing his eyes' after the defender missed a big chance during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
The match at Stamford Bridge ended honours even, with Pedro Neto earning a point for the Blues following Gabriel Martinelli's opener.
Gusto, however, missed a big chance to break the deadlock in the 24th minute - with the former Lyon star sending a header over the bar from close range.
Lineker, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, has now provided his verdict.

The former England, Tottenham and Barcelona star feels Gusto should have done better.
And he also believes the Chelsea defender was guilty of shutting his eyes at the moment of impact.
"You see so many players missing headers like that," he said.
"You know what it is, because I’ve kind of mentioned this before, but the ball comes over, and I think as you head it, there’s a tendency to close your eyes.

“And when you close your eyes, you dip your head, and if you watch it, I think he did exactly that, and then it comes off the top part of the forehead.
“I was taught by a guy called George Dewis when I was young, who was a great Leicester goal scorer for many years.
“And he used to say, you’ve got to keep your eyes open, keep your eyes open, and therefore you’ll see it right onto your forehead and it won’t go up in the air.
“And it’s a quite common weakness amongst players, but it was a fabulous chance.”

Out of the two teams, Chelsea will be happier with the result.
They remain level on points with Arsenal, something nobody really expected at the beginning of the campaign.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca discussed the result after the game.
And the Italian insisted he 'enjoyed' the match, saying: "I enjoyed it, absolutely.

"The performance was good. We know them quite well and we competed pretty well.
"The performance is very important for us in this moment and it was good. We can rest now and go again.
"The performance from Pedro [Neto] was very good, all of them, complete.
"We played in the way we wanted to, brave, and try and play from the back always."

On his side competing with Arsenal, he continued: "It is the way we want to do the things.
"We try and play face to face against every team. We are Chelsea, so it is important to send this message.
"There are managers that have been clubs for five and nine years so we are behind them."
