The former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder was axed by the broadcaster on Thursday

BBC presenters, including Gary Lineker and Alex Jones, have reportedly been forbidden from contacting Jermaine Jenas following his dismissal from the broadcaster.

Jenas was axed on Thursday after claims of 'inappropriate behaviour'.

The former midfielder allegedly sent an unsolicited text message to a female member of staff, with Jenas denying the claims against him.

He has also revealed he has his lawyers on the case, with the 41-year-old eager to clear his name.

Jenas has also said he is 'not happy' with his dismissal and that there are 'two sides to every story'.

According to The Sun, presenters, cast and crew have all been asked not to contact Jenas while legal matters are ongoing.

This includes Lineker, who had previously tipped Jenas to be his replacement on Match of the Day, and Jones - who worked with the former footballer on The One Show.

“He has yet to say his side of the story but he has made it known privately to friends he is unhappy," an insider was quoted as saying.

“Presenters, cast and crew have all been asked not to contact him whilst legal matters are ongoing — as a result a lot of Chinese whispers have been circulating.

“Not even top talent like Alex Jones, Alan Shearer or Gary Lineker knew about this.

"It was shrouded in secrecy.”

The BBC, according to the source, acted swiftly and decisively. They have also insisted there is 'no suggestion of illegality whatsoever'.

“This latest incident of alleged misconduct in the workplace is the last thing the BBC needed," they added.

"It has shocked, and rocked, everyone."

The source continued: “The BBC knows it cannot now ignore concerns or complaints so after immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract.

"They acted swiftly and decisively."
