EXCLUSIVE: Ray Parlour has spoken out ahead of this summer's big tournament

Ray Parlour has urged Gareth Southgate to be more attacking with his tactics as England look to end 58 years of hurt at Euro 2024 this summer.

The Three Lions will go into the tournament among the favourites to reign supreme, Southgate having one of the best teams in the world.

While the 52-year-old has undeniably improved England during his time in the dugout, question marks remain.

Southgate has previously been accused of being too pragmatic and overly defensive, especially for a manager with so much attacking talent.

And Parlour, speaking exclusively to GB News via NetBet Sports Betting, believes Southgate must let the handbrake off this summer.

"You have to be more offensive this summer," said the Arsenal icon.

"Especially in the big games.

"With so much talent on show, England can be brave to win the knockout stage games and push on to go as close as possible to lifting the trophy."

England arguably possess the best forwards out of any team at the tournament.

Harry Kane will go into the competition having bagged 44 goals for Bayern Munich.

Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham have flourished for Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively.

And Jarrod Bowen, Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka delivered the goods for West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Not everybody is happy with the England squad, however.

Some feel Jack Grealish should have made the cut, with the Manchester City star paying the price for an inconsistent season over at the Etihad Stadium.

And Parlour thinks Grealish should have been on the plane to Germany, branding the 28-year-old a 'top player'.

"It’s a very good squad England have," he said.

"So many good young attacking players, many in form players who ended the season well.

"Plenty of experience in the squad who played in the last Euros and previous World Cup.

"Bellingham has been the best player in La Liga and now can star for England.
