The Portugal international has been a shining light in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era

Bruno Fernandes is considering a move away from Manchester United after the FA Cup final, according to reports.

Yet while the Portugal international has been a significant asset for the Red Devils ever since his arrival in January 2020, the fallen giants are unlikely to stand in his way of a departure.

Fernandes recently hinted he could leave United. When quizzed on his future, he said: “Obviously, it doesn’t just depend on me, does it?

"A player always has to want to be here, but at the same time, you have to want him to stay. At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides.

“I’m not thinking too much about the future, not least because, obviously, this season hasn’t been at the level I’d hoped for, either individually or collectively, so far.

"So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros because nothing will be able to take my focus away from the FA Cup final and the Euros, as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”

United, obviously, would prefer for Fernandes to stay.

He has been their best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, producing the goods under managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.

Yet United are poised to be ruthless this summer. And it's previously been suggested that every player is available for the right price - barring three.

Rasmus Hojlund has been inconsistent in front of goal ever since touching down from Atalanta back in the summer.

But United feel the £72million will come good in the coming years, hence why he's not on the market.

The Red Devils have seen Alejandro Garnacho impress for the second season on the trot.

And while he's been linked with Real Madrid, United have put the Argentina international on their list of unsellables for the summer ahead.

The third player who United categorically won't offload is youngster Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo has been a regular in the side ever since a 3-0 win over Everton at the end of November.

But everybody else at United could be sold if a suitable offer comes in.

It would be a huge blow to lose Fernandes given everything he's done for the club since arriving from Sporting Lisbon four-and-a-half years ago.

Yet The Sun say he is considering a summer move and that the FA Cup final later this month could be his United swansong.

The 29-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

And he's not expected to be short of potential suitors if he tries to push through a move.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, recently insisted Fernandes was 'happy' at the club as he looked to dampen talk of a departure.

“I know he is very happy to be here," he said earlier this month.

But Ten Hag's own future at United is currently shrouded in uncertainty.

With INEOS at the helm, they could choose to sack the Dutchman - regardless of what happens in the FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month.
