The Blues boss was unhappy after her side lost in the Continental Cup final on Sunday

Football fans have fumed after Emma Hayes pushed Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall during the Gunners' 1-0 Continental Cup final victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

Stina Blackstenius netted the only goal of the game in the 116th minute to settle the close contest.

After the game, however, Hayes sparked controversy by pushing Eidevall.

The Arsenal boss had hoped to shake hands and looked bemused by the behaviour of his managerial rival.

Football fans on social media have reacted to the incident.

And many have criticised Hayes for opting to shove Eidevall, with one user saying: "Imagine if that was the other way around?"

A second said: "I rate Hayes but it's just classless from her there."

A third weighed in by saying: "That's not a good look."

A fourth fumed: "Well well well, sportsmanship has died."

Another fan weighed in by saying: "Not a good look at all. I’m a fan of Emma but that’s not acceptable."

A sixth said: "So what have children watching the match learned from that? Remember Arsenal had a player stretchered off. It was a tense, close game and nothing wrong with the winning goal."

And a seventh raged: "She should be charged by the FA."

The incident seemed to stem after Eidveall had a heated exchange with Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert during the contest.

Hayes was quizzed on the altercation following the result in the Midlands.

And the Chelsea boss defended her actions by saying Eidevall had used 'male aggression' during the clash.

"I think there's a way to behave on the side of the pitch and not for the first time, I've been in women's football a long time and I don't think we should tolerate male aggression like we did today," she vented.

"Fronting up or squaring up to a player is something that's unacceptable.

"I've never been booked in 12 years of my career but I think there's a way to behave on the touchline.

"He received a yellow card but perhaps should have been more."

Eidevall has, however, disputed those claims and hit back at the Chelsea boss.

"The ball goes out of play, the Chelsea player wants a new ball to take a quick throw-in and I said, 'we play with only one ball and you guys were the ones who decided that," he told the BBC.

"I can't see that I did anything, had any form of contact with anyone - either a player or a coach. That was it.

"To be honest I can't really take it seriously (being called an 'aggressor')."

In his post-match press conference, the Arsenal boss doubled down.

"I don’t think I was aggressive," he continued.
