Ruben Amorim got his first win as Manchester United boss on Thursday evening against Bodo/Glimt.

Ruben Amorim picked up his first win as Manchester United boss on his debut in the Old Trafford dugout, but it was far from simple against Bodo/Glimt.

Rasmus Hojlund forced a mistake from Nikita Khaikin in the opening minute with Alejandro Garnacho tapping into the empty net.

But United's frailties came back to bite them once again as Bodo/Glimt scored twice to take the lead and threaten to ruin Amorim's home debut.

Hojlund came to the rescue for United with two goals either side of the break to put the Red Devils back in charge.

United were never fully comfortable in the closing stages of the match as Bodo/Glimt threatened another equaliser, but Amorim's side held on for a valuable three points.

GB News takes a look at five things learned from United's nervy 3-2 win over the Norwegian side.

Rasmus Hojlund back on track

This is the Hojlund that Erik ten Hag hoped to have unearthed when he took a risk on signing the striker 18 months ago.

He caused Bodo/Glimt all sorts of problems at the back and they couldn't cope with his size and speed.

The Danish forward showed his tenacity in United's first and proved his finishing ability with a clinical equaliser.

Then he proved his striker's instinct and power in getting ahead of the Bodo/Glimt defender to put United back in front at the start of the second half.

Amorim will desperately be hoping it's the start of more to come from United's No 9.

Old Trafford nerves

There was an immediate bounce among United fans after Ten Hag was replaced by Amorim, but that didn't come close to fixing all their problems.

And once United were pegged back by Bodo/Glimt, the atmosphere shifted inside Old Trafford with nerves clear to see in the United squad.

The Norwegian side took full advantage of that by scoring a second with United at risk of capitulating once again.

United managed to get back on track, but their frailties are still there for all to see.

Defensive issues

Part of those frailties are most prevalent in defence where United appear to lack any structure.

And Amorim's change in formation will certainly have some teething issues as they get to grips with his system.

The United boss admitted his side would need to 'suffer' while they learn his system, and suffer they did in the first half.

Mount shows some form

It's been a difficult two years for Mount after falling out of favour at Chelsea before moving to United.

He's clearly lacking in confidence and was out in the cold under Ten Hag, but Amorim's arrival has given him a new opportunity.

And the 25-year-old showed signs of his former self against Bodo/Glimt with a brilliant piece of skill leading to United's third goal.

More chances are likely to come as Amorim tries to work out which players he can trust and Mount will have done himself no harm on Thursday evening.

Attacking decision

The biggest selection headache for Amorim in the next few weeks will be who he selects as his supporting cast to Hojlund in attack.

Bruno Fernandes holds down the attacking midfield role while Mount and Garnacho were picked to start either side of Hojlund against Bodo/Glimt.

Marcus Rashford appears to have a fight on his hand to get back into the starting line-up while Amad and Antony have been utilised as makeshift wing-backs.

It creates a level of uncertainty around United's team going forward, and that might help them against tougher opposition.
