The Three Lions booked their place in the final of the competition on Wednesday night

The FA will bank £2.5million if England beat Spain to win Euro 2024 on Sunday night, according to reports.

The Three Lions are just 90 minutes away from winning their first major trophy since the World Cup back in 1966 after overcoming the Netherlands on Wednesday night.

Xavi Simons struck in the seventh minute of the match to give the Dutch the lead.

But England turned the situation around, with goals from Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins catapulting them through.

According to The Sun, the FA have already made a staggering £20.4m as a result of England's success this summer.

And beating Spain in the final would see that sum increase by a further £2.5m, it's claimed.

If England do go all the way, they'd fall just £840,000 short of the maximum they could have earned from the competition.

That's due to draws against Denmark and Slovenia, with England unable to find a way past both teams during the group stages.

England pocketed £7.8m by qualifying for the European Championships this summer.

Their 1-0 win over Serbia on matchday one was worth £840,000, while the draws with Denmark and Slovenia earned £420,000 each time.

Reaching the last 16 added £1.26m to their kitty, while their narrow 2-1 win over Slovakia saw the FA pocket £2.1m.

Last weekend, England beat Switzerland on penalties.

And that victory was reportedly worth a further £3.4m.

England secured an extra £4.2m by beating the Netherlands last night, with Kane and Watkins both stepping up to make themselves counted.

The report says that there's a difference of £2.5m in prize money between the winners and the runners-up.

England will do battle with Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin

And Gareth Southgate has admitted La Roja will provide his side with the 'greatest possible test' on Sunday.

"We'll have to get the ball off them first!" he said when asked if his team can hurt Spain.

"It's not as simple as us having the ball and making them run.

"They press very, very well so we're going to have to be exceptional with the ball and we're going to have to be exceptional without it.

"It's a final so you expect it to be that way.

"They've been the best team. We're starting to show a better version of ourselves.

"The extra day [of rest for Spain] is a concern, in the last few tournaments that's been a problem for finalists.

"We've got to do the very best we can to recover the players as well as we can.

"We're not going to be on the training ground, that's simple.

"We'll be walking through things or delivering things in meetings, it was the same for this game, but we're in there and with what we've shown to this point, we have as good a chance as they do."
