The Three Lions will be hoping to win the tournament for the first time

Harry Redknapp has admitted he's 'surprised' Gareth Southgate didn't pick Marcus Rashford in his England squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

Rashford was outstanding for Manchester United in the 2022/2023 season, bagging 30 goals across all competitions.

Yet he endured a difficult campaign for United last term, netting just eight times.

As a result, Southgate has opted to leave the forward out of his squad as England target Euro 2024 glory this summer.

Yet while Southgate has said he's picked his squad based on current form, Redknapp feels Rashford would have been worth taking.

“As poor as Marcus Rashford has been with Manchester United this year, his England form has always been good, he’s always done well," he told BetVictor.

“At the 2022 World Cup, he was our joint-leading scorer. When he's on his game, he can be a real player.

"I was a little bit surprised we didn't take him.

“I would still have included him in the Euros squad.

"Even if he's not starting, he can come off the bench.

“He gives you that pace either wide or through the middle.

"On his day, with that pace, Rashford can be a real threat to the opposition.

"If I was playing against him, he'd scare me to death at times.”

While there was no place for Rashford in the squad, Jude Bellingham was one star included.

The Real Madrid midfielder recently won LaLiga, while he's set to take centre stage in Saturday's Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

When it comes to his best position, however, it's unclear what England will do.

Bellingham can play deep or higher up the pitch. With Phil Foden also making the cut, Redknapp would like to see him dictating play alongside Declan Rice - with Foden then playing further ahead.

"I’d play Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice in midfield," he continued.

"I would play Phil Foden in behind Harry Kane and go for it.

“Foden is a fantastic talent, he’s been amazing this season – the goals he’s scored and the goals he’s made.

"I don’t like him out wide – I see him as a number 10.

“I don’t think we need too many defensive midfield players when you’ve got that many good attacking options.

"I’d like to see us take it to the opposition and have a real go in Germany, because the opposition isn’t great.

“I don’t see anything that should scare England. I’d want them to be on the front foot.”

England are the favourites to win Euro 2024 this summer, along with France.
