The Three Lions will be hoping to make the final of the competition with victory tonight

Figures in the England camp are reportedly concerned about Anthony Gordon ahead of tonight's blockbuster Euro 2024 showdown with the Netherlands.

The Newcastle star has featured just once for the Three Lions so far, coming off the bench in their 1-1 draw with Denmark on matchday two.

Despite Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden being inconsistent, Gordon still hasn't been able to get a look-in.

At the end of last month, it emerged the winger was of interest to Liverpool - despite his Everton past.

A potential move to Anfield broke down, however, with Liverpool and Newcastle unable to agree on the terms of a deal.

For now, talk of Gordon potentially returning to Merseyside has gone cold.

But the Daily Star say figures within the England camp are concerned that transfer talk is distracting Gordon ahead of tonight's big match.

England made five changes during their penalty shootout win over Switzerland on Saturday.

Yet Gordon was still left on the bench, with Gareth Southgate opting to bring on the likes of Ivan Toney, Eberechi Eze and Cole Palmer instead.

The former Everton star isn't expected to start for England against the Netherlands tonight.

Instead, just the one change is likely - with Marc Guehi primed to come in for Ezri Konsa.

England are set to start with Jordan Pickford in goal, with Guehi, Kyle Walker and John Stones making up a back three.

Bukayo Saka and Kieran Trippier will start at wing-back.

And England's attack is set to consist of Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.

England have been inconsistent at Euro 2024 so far.

They have won just two of their five matches in 90 minutes, though remain unbeaten.

And Southgate wants his players to 'step up' against the Netherlands as they look to make the final of the European Championships for the second time in as many attempts.

“We need another step from what we showed in the last game," he said.

"It’s a step up in quality of opponents and we are ready for that.”

Captain Harry Kane has faced criticism for his lacklustre performances at the tip of England's attack.

But the Bayern Munich star insists he can handle the pressure - along with the rest of his team-mates.

“I don’t think we speak about it in the dressing room," he said.

"The ones who have had more experience know what it’s like to play for England in major tournaments.

"As we’ve been getting better the expectation gets higher and that’s been no different.

“Some will use it in different ways, some will use it as motivation, some will just block it out and focus on what they need to do. Everyone’s different.

"From a team point of view we know what we need to achieve. We have a really important game, a really tough game we need to be ready for.

"We’ve prepared for that.”
