Devonte Aransibia signed his first professional contract with Norwich in 2017.

Former Norwich City midfielder and non-league star Devonte Aransibia has died at the age of 26.

The footballer, who most recently played for Chesham United, had spells at several clubs including Tonbridge Angels and Maidstone United during his career.


Aransibia began his journey in professional football at Norwich City, where he signed his first professional contract in 2017.

Tributes have poured in from former teammates and colleagues following the news of Aransibia's death.

“It's devastating news,” said Tonbridge manager Jay Saunders.

“Devonte was just a good person and a very good footballer.

“He was a quiet lad but a real nice kid. I'm just gutted for his family and everyone involved. I'm truly gutted.

“You spend quite a lot of time with these lads and get to know them personally and its devastating news when you hear something like that.

“He always looked so happy. When he was scoring goals, the smile on his face, I can picture it.

“When he first came in, he was a very quiet lad, he kept himself to himself, and once he came out of his shell he was a massive player for us and a massive part of everything we did.”

Ex-Angels midfielder Joe Boachie expressed his disbelief, saying: "I can't believe it. RIP Devonte."

Former Tonbridge teammate Jordan Greenidge wrote: "Rest in peace Dev."

Football commentator Matt Eastley also paid tribute, stating: "So, so sad to hear this news. I enjoyed watching Devonte at several clubs."

A fundraising page has been established to support Aransibia's family following his passing.

The gofundme page pays tribute to him as "a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and dear friend to so many."

The statement describes Aransibia's warm personality, noting: "Dev was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile.

"His infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him."

The statement also acknowledges his sporting achievements, describing him as "a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch."

After starting at Norwich City as a scholar, Aransibia ventured into non-league football with spells at several clubs.

His journey included stints at Billericay, Potters Bar and Royston, before moving to Chelmsford and Welling.

In November 2022, he joined Tonbridge Angels from Welling, where he impressed with 12 goals from midfield.

Aransibia later signed for Maidstone United, making his mark in their FA Cup first-round victory at Chesham.

His time at Maidstone included loan spells at Braintree and a return to Tonbridge Angels.

Following his release from Maidstone, Aransibia joined Chesham United last summer.
