David Moyes has explained the reasoning behind his decision to make a grand return to Everton after replacing Sean Dyche as manager on a two-year contract.
Dyche was axed on Thursday afternoon - just three hours before the Toffees were set to play Peterborough in the FA Cup.
Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman took control for the match, which Everton won 2-0, and club chiefs have wasted no time in finding a replacement.
Almost immediately after the new owners Friedkin Group sacked Dyche, rumours circulated over a successor with names including Jose Mourinho and Paulo Fonseca being floated.

However, Moyes quickly became the sole target for Everton - marking an incredible return for the 61-year-old.
The Scotsman sat in the dugout at Goodison Park for 11 years from 2002 to 2013 and is arguably Everton's best manager in the Premier League era.
For many years on Merseyside, Moyes operated on a tight budget but consistently led the Toffees through turmoil to often lofty heights.
That included finishing in the top-four in 2005 - their highest finish since 1988.
And the former West Ham and Manchester United boss has explained his reasons for returning to the club.
Moyes said: “It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.
“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.
“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”

Moyes left West Ham at the end of last season after his contract expired, though they have since ran into trouble replacing him having sacked Julen Lopetegui earlier this week.
The veteran coach left Everton in 2013 to join United, an ill-fated spell that lasted just eight months.
The Glaswegian then joined Real Sociedad in Spain before returning to England to manage Sunderland before moving to West Ham in 2017.

Having signed an initial one-year deal for the Hammers and subsequently leaving after it expired, Moyes returned for a second spell in 2019 just a year after being let go.
In a five-year spell, he led West Ham to their first European trophy by winning the Europa Conference League as well as leading them into the Europa League.
