A photo from the weekend showing Luiz in action for Fortaleza shocked supporters, however, as it revealed a significant bald patch on the top of his head.

The image quickly went viral, prompting the Brazilian defender to address his hair loss situation.

In response, Luiz released a video with his barber to explain how he has been dealing with this issue for some time.

In the video, Luiz revealed: 'Over the years, I've lost a little hair. I have treated baldness for many years.'

He explained his previous coping strategy: 'I used to be a cap lover back in the beginning.'

'Now, over the years I have much more difficulty to leave the hair as I liked, the one fullest of curls, the curly way I liked it.

'It was a lot more work too. It was easier for me to put on the cap and do the style this way.'

During the video, Luiz removed his cap to show his long locks, whilst admitting his hair was thinning and needed attention.

The barber was more optimistic, insisting there was still 'huge potential' for Luiz to maintain his trademark style.
