Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson passed away at the age of 76 after being diagnosed with cancer.

David Beckham has revealed the heartbreaking final four words he received from Sven-Goran Eriksson in their final conversation before the former England manager passed away.

The Swede revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and said he had, 'at best', a year to live.

Eriksson embarked on an emotional farewell tour after revealing his diagnosis, visiting some of his former clubs as well as fulfilling a childhood dream of managing Liverpool in a charity match at Anfield.

An Amazon Prime documentary was released just last week where Eriksson shared a poignant goodbye message.

Eriksson passed away just days later with tributes flooding in for the 76-year-old.

Beckham, who was named England captain by Eriksson shortly after he took the Three Lions job, was among those to share some kind words about his former boss.

And the 49-year-old revealed what he was told by Eriksson in their final conversation together.

"We laughed, we cried and we knew we were saying goodbye," he said.

"Sven thank you for always being the person you have always been, passionate, caring, calm and a true gentleman.

"I will be forever grateful for you making me your captain but I will forever hold these last memories of this day with you and your family...

"Thank you Sven and in your last words to me, 'It will be ok'."

Wayne Rooney also added to the tributes, writing on social media: "Rest in peace, Sven.

"Thoughts and prayers with all his family and friends."

Michael Owen, who scored a hat-trick in arguably Eriksson's most famous win as England manager in the 5-1 victory over Germany, similarly had high praise for his former boss.
