Roy Hodgson was taken to the hospital on Thursday morning after falling ill during a training session.

Crystal Palace have announced that Roy Hodgson is "stable" after being taken to hospital on Thursday morning.

Hodgson was scheduled to hold his pre-match press conference at Selhurst Park looking ahead to Palace's upcoming game against Burnley.

But it was announced that Hodgson had fallen ill during the morning training session and he was taken to hospital.

Palace have now issued an update, confirming the 76-year-old is in a stable condition.

"Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today's training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital," the club said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery."

There have been growing reports that Hodgson is facing the sack at Selhurst Park with the club struggling to move away from the relegation zone.

They've won just once since the start of the year, although defeats have come against Arsenal, Brighton and Chelsea in the league.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner is said to be the frontrunner to take over at Palace.

Hodgson has seemingly lost the support of the majority of fans inside Selhurst Park for some of his decisions in recent months.

Supporters have displayed banners recently calling for Hodgson to be sacked and Palace were booed off the field after exiting the FA Cup at the hands of Everton.

Hodgson drew ire from fans during that match when he substituted star attacker Eberechi Eze in the second half despite his side needing a goal.

"If I was a fan, I wouldn't have wanted to see Eze taken off either," Hodgson said after the match.

"But we play at 12:30 GMT on Saturday and we need people like Eze who is one of our very best players.

"I would have loved all of my players to play 95 minutes but unfortunately we decided, in order to protect as many players as we can, that we would replace them with players who also deserved a chance to play."

Glasner earned high praise for his work at Frankfurt having led them to a surprise Europa League title in 2022.

But he left the club at the end of last season and has been out of work ever since.

It's been reported that Glasner is keen on the move to take over the Premier League club with Hodgson seemingly unlikely to continue.
