The incident was reported to have happened in Jersey.

Cristiano Ronaldo's uncle was taken to hospital after being involved in a 'serios traffic accident', Portugese media have reported.

According to JM Madeira, Jorge Viveiros, who is a brother to Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro, was riding a motorcycle with a cabin when he was hit by a car.

Viveiros' motorcycle is said to have overturned in the road with firefighters called to the scene.

The incident is said to have occurred in the centre of Saint Helier in Jersey.

The local news outlet claim Viveiros was taken to hospital to undergo further tests after the crash.

It's said he spent a few hours under observation before returning home and being given the all-clear.

Ronaldo was with the Portugal national squad this week for their latest set of Nations League fixtures.

The 39-year-old scored twice in their 5-1 win over Poland on Friday last week.

However, Ronaldo was released from Portugal's squad ahead of their match against Croatia.

He wasn't the only marquee Portugal star to be released with Roberto Martinez's side already securing top spot in their Nations League group.

Bruno Fernandes, Pedro Neto and Bernardo Silva also returned to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

Ronaldo headed back to Al Nassr and opened up on his retirement plans before leaving the Portugal camp.

"If it [retirement] has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know.

“I’m turning 40 soon…I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated I keep going.
