Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to sign a new contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr worth over £167.9million per year, cementing his position as the world's highest-paid footballer.

The 39-year-old Portuguese superstar, who joined the team in January 2023 following his departure from Manchester United the previous month, currently earns £164m per season for his on-pitch contributions, plus £49million from off-field ventures.

According to Saudi outlet Al Khabar, Ronaldo's new deal will see him earn a staggering £3.19million per week, equivalent to £419,800 per day.

The contract extension comes as his current deal is set to expire at the end of this season.

The former Real Madrid star's new agreement will extend his stay at Al-Nassr into his fifth decade, with the football icon still going strong at the age of 39.

Ronaldo has proven prolific during his time in Riyadh, scoring 75 goals in 84 appearances for Al-Nassr.

However, major honours have largely eluded the forward at his new club, with only the 2023 Arab Club Championship trophy to show for his efforts.

The Portuguese star has missed out on two league titles, with Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal claiming the honours respectively.

Ronaldo's arrival in Saudi Arabia sparked a significant talent influx to the Pro League.

The division has since attracted several high-profile stars from European football, including Neymar Jr, Karim Benzema, and N'Golo Kante.

Beyond his footballing duties, Ronaldo has embraced a broader role in Saudi Arabia, appearing in National Day promotional videos and attending high-profile boxing matches in Riyadh.

Speaking at last month's Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, Ronaldo compared the Saudi Pro League favourably to France's top division.

"Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course," Ronaldo said. "All France only has PSG. The rest are finished."

League leaders Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are locked on 37 points at the top of the table, with Al-Hilal ahead on goal difference.

Ronaldo acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying: "It is difficult to become champion in Saudi. This year Al-Hilal are better, Al-Ittihad are top of the league, but I believe that we have to push hard to be champions."
