Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has sparked speculation about a potential third return to Old Trafford for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to BoyleSports, Brown suggested that the Portuguese superstar could make a comeback to "try and make amends for the sour ending" of his last stint with the club.
Ronaldo's second spell at United ended controversially in 2022, with the player and club mutually agreeing to terminate his contract following a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.
Despite the acrimonious departure, Brown believes a reunion is not out of the question.
Brown, who played alongside Ronaldo during the Portuguese star's first spell at United, told BoyleSports: "When it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United in some capacity you can never say never.
"Obviously when he left the second time we were all disappointed because he had been one of United's best ever players.

"I think the exit was a bit over the top but for him to come back in some way. I'd love it."

The Portuguese superstar has expressed his desire to play on for some time yet, with a stated aim of reaching 1,000 career goals.
Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire at the end of the current season, potentially opening the door for a future move.
Despite Brown's optimism, a third return for Ronaldo seems unlikely.
The Portuguese star recently criticised Erik ten Hag publicly, suggesting a strained relationship with the current United manager.

As Ronaldo has shown no inclination towards management yet, any return in the near future would likely be as a player.
Given the circumstances of his last departure, this scenario remains improbable.
