Casemiro had a nightmare opening half against Liverpool as Manchester United went two goals down

Roy Keane tore Casemiro to shreds at half-time after his horror-show performance as Manchester United went two goals down to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international was at fault for both goals, with Luis Diaz netting a double in the opening 45 minutes.

For the first strike, the former Real Madrid star saw his pass into midfield easily cut out by Ryan Gravenberch, who supplied Mohamed Salah whose cross was headed in by Diaz.

And moments later, Casemiro tried to run with the ball before being tackled in midfield by Diaz with Salah supplying the Colombia international again, this time scoring a sharp strike just inside the box.

Liverpool had an earlier strike by Trent Alexander-Arnold ruled out for offside in a dominating half for the visitors.

And Sky Sports pundit Keane, who spent 12 years in the heart of United's midfield throughout their golden era, was seething at half-time in the studio.

"Same old problems," the former United captain said. "Leopards and spots.

"Man Utd look very open, they got away with the first goal [disallowed]. Mistakes from Casemiro for all his experience...

"They are all over the place. Casemiro must be aware of what's around him."

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge did try absolve Casemiro of some of the blame for the second goal.

He said: "For me the second goal, I am not going to put it on Casemiro, there was a lot more to be done."

United manager Ten Hag was clearly incensed with the Brazilian at half-time, roping him off for Toby Collyer, with the 20-year-old making his Premier League debut in the process.

United have not had a great start to the season despite Erik ten Hag being backed in the summer with a new contract.

A narrow 1-0 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season did not fill fans with confidence, a week after losing to Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The Red Devils were then shocked by Brighton at the Amex Stadium in a 2-1 defeat to raise alarm bells for Ten Hag.
