Both the BBC and ITV have decided not to put any of the four non-league sides playing in the FA Cup third round live.

The BBC and ITV have been branded "shameful" and a "disgrace" for their FA Cup TV selections this weekend with not one of the four non-league teams competing in the third round being shown live.

Maidstone United, Aldershot Town, Chesterfield and Eastleigh are the only non-league teams left in the FA Cup.

The competition is seen as a chance for teams lower down the English football ladder to embark on a dream run and pull off huge upsets to become local heroes.

Maidstone are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition as they play in the National League South - the sixth tier of English football.

They're managed by former Premier League star George Elokobi and have already pulled off a major upset in the competition when they defeated League Two side Barrow in the previous round.

Aldershot are competing in the third round for the first time in 10 years while Eastleigh and Chesterfield are also looking to pull off upsets of their own.

All four teams were denied a dream third-round tie against Premier League opposition.

And that appears to have gone against them with both the BBC and ITV going for matches featuring Premier League clubs.

ITV have already shown Crystal Palace's 0-0 draw with Everton as well as Tottenham's tight 1-0 win over Burnley.

The first Tyne-Wear derby between Sunderland and Newcastle in seven years will also be shown on ITV as well as Manchester United's match against Wigan later today.

Meanwhile, BBC One will televise Middlesbrough vs Aston Villa and Arsenal vs Liverpool with Chelsea, Manchester City and Wrexham's respective third-round ties shown on iPlayer.

The games selected to be shown on TV haven't gone down well with viewers, who feel the BBC and ITV have let fans down.

One social media user moaned: "The FA Cup 3rd round has always been giants vs minnows. So what do the BBC & ITV do, they show 3 all premier league games. So all the tv money goes to the haves, while the have nots get f**k all. That is bloody shameful."

Another previously wrote: "Absolute disgrace of a decision to not include the non league teams in the TV coverage of the FA Cup next round."

A third posted: "BBC news showing their true colours this morning. 10 minutes on the FA cup, featuring last night’s goals and the north east derby. All games featuring premier league teams. No mention of the remaining non league teams."

A fourth fumed: "I hope ITV and BBC realise with these dreadful matches that all Premier League ties aren’t worthy of dominating the FA Cup tv schedule. There’s been more entertainment in five minutes of a typical national league game this season than the 135 minutes of FA Cup TV so far."

Another sarcastically said: "Well well well, @ITV and @BBC two cracking games so far for the FA cup absolutely reverting end of seat performances. Hope that back pocket is feeling much heavier so far."
