John Terry has led the outcry on social media against the BBC after they poked fun at Cristiano Ronaldo in their post-match coverage of Portugal's clash with Slovenia.
The Euro 2024 last-16 tie went to extra-time with nothing separating the two sides after 90 minutes.
But Portugal were given a golden chance to break the deadlock just before the end of the first half of extra-time.
Diogo Jota was brought down inside the box with Ronaldo stepping up to take the resulting penalty, but Jan Oblak pulled off an incredible save to end his run of 24 consecutive penalties scored.
Ronaldo had to be consoled afterwards with his team-mates rushing to his aid as tears streamed down his face.

Portugal were able to make amends in the penalty shoot-out with Ronaldo finding the net.
But the BBC irked some football fans online during their analysis of Ronaldo's penalty miss in extra-time.
A replay of the spot-kick also featured a graphic which read 'Misstiano Penaldo' and Terry was among those left unimpressed.
The Chelsea icon shared a screenshot of the BBC caption on Instagram, writing: "BBC this is a disgrace!"
More fans fumed with one message reading: "This is beyond ridiculous and embarrassing from such a huge news outlet."
Another said: "This is genuinely disgusting from the BBC."
A third person posted: "What the BBC has done is offensive and unacceptable."
Ronaldo was still emotional after Portugal's win as they progressed to the quarter-final where they will face France.
"Even the strongest people have their [bad] days. I was at rock bottom when the team needed me the most," a tearful Ronaldo said..
"Sadness at the start is joy at the end. That's what football is. Moments, inexplicable moments. I feel sad and happy at the same time.

"But the important thing is to enjoy it. The team did an extraordinary job. We fought right to the end and I think we deserved it because we had more authority."
Portugal shot-stopper Diogo Costa was his country's saviour in the penalty shoot-out as he saved three spot-kicks.
And he jumped to the defence of Portugal's captain, calling it an 'honour' to share the field with him.

"We all know that Cristiano is the hardest worker," Costa said.
"I understand how frustrated he is because he devotes all his time to this. It’s a pleasure and an honour to be on the same team as him.
"We're a family, I really think this. I focus on making the best of these chances and I wanted to help the team.
"This is the most important thing. This is probably the best game of my life."
