The former Tottenham and Newcastle star was axed by the broadcaster last week

BBC chiefs are reportedly 'disgusted and disappointed' with Jermaine Jenas following his dismissal from the broadcaster last week.

The Beeb opted to axe the 41-year-old after he sent inappropriate text messages to two female members of staff.

Jenas has admitted to his actions, with the former footballer also saying his wife, Ellie Penfold, is 'raging'.

She is standing by him for the time being, though the situation could reportedly change as the couple fight to save their marriage.

According to the Daily Mail, BBC Director-General Tim Davie is 'deeply unhappy' with Jenas.

And it's said other chiefs working for the broadcaster are 'disgusted and disappointed' with the way the ex-England international conducted himself, too.

While Jenas has admitted to sending inappropriate messages, he is unhappy with the BBC's decision to sack him.

He currently has lawyers working on his behalf as he battles to clear his name.

But the BBC remain 'absolutely sure' they were right to sack Jenas after 'much consultation' with their own employment lawyers.

One chief, who isn't named, has even reportedly sent Jenas a mocking 'good luck' message.

The BBC insider is quoted as saying: "Good luck to Jermaine and his legal team.

"If he wants a payout he will come up against some very tough lawyers.

"As far as the upper echelons of the BBC are concerned, they gave him some amazing opportunities and he only has himself to blame."

Jenas, meanwhile, has accused the BBC of refusing to let him apologise to the women he messaged.

“When it was all unfolding and I knew I was losing my job, I asked HR if I could contact the two women directly and apologise to both of them," he told The Sun.

“But because of the legal process, I wasn’t allowed.

“I didn’t get the opportunity to say sorry to them at that particular point when I really wanted to apologise.

“I really want to apologise from the bottom of my heart in terms of what I’ve put them through.”

Addressing the women directly, he added: “I’m genuinely sorry for what I’ve done to you. I always thought it was consensual and a two-way thing.

“I’m not proud of what I wrote and what I said. And I do consider it cheating, yes, although nothing physical ever happened.
