The north London giants' dire season continued with a nightmare result at Molineux

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has opened up after his side lost 4-2 to Wolves in an enthralling Premier League clash at Molineux on Sunday.

Wolves found themselves 2-0 up at half time, with Djed Spence's own goal coming after an early opener from Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Tottenham fought their way back into the contest when Mathys Tel struck in the 59th minute, only for Wolves to extend their lead again through Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Spurs netted their second goal of the game through Richarlison to spark a frantic finish, with Wolves then killing them off after another goal from the impressive Matheus Cunha.

The result means Tottenham are 15th in the table with just six matches to play.

And it also represents another setback for Postecoglou, with the Australian battling to keep his job.

GB News understands that Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is being lined up to potentially replace Postecoglou come the end of the season.

Should the Frenchman depart Selhurst Park, then the Eagles will attempt to land Kieran McKenna from Ipswich.

Postecoglou was left frustrated after watching Tottenham toil once more, with the former Celtic boss acknowledging that individual errors let the team down.

“I thought we were well in the game, and controlled it really well, but we just kept conceding really poor goals," he said.

“It was a bit different today. The goals we conceded weren’t lapses, they were just individual errors which, like I said, is unusual for us to give goals away like that.

"But that’s what happened, we got punished today and it makes it very difficult to get an outcome.”

Tottenham will attempt to bounce back when they face AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash.

On whether his players were distracted by that upcoming tie, Postecoglou added: "I don't think so. When you look at those things in isolation, they're just things that are unusual for us and for those players in those moments.

"It happens. It might happen once in a game or a season, and for us it happened multiple times in a game.

"I don't think it's any lack of focus from the players and from my perspective, I don't think that's a major concern.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

"They [the players] shouldn't be in a bad headspace, and I think, you know, the game Thursday is massive for us.

"I thought we played well on Thursday night against them and probably should have got a win out of that game.

"We know that when we play our football like we did on Thursday night, we can certainly make an impact.

"So we just recover today, physically, mentally, make sure that the players are in a good space.
