The 55-year-old hasn't been seen in public since 2013

Michael Schumacher's family have allowed Laila Hasanovic, the girlfriend of Mick Schumacher, to visit the stricken F1 icon.

The 55-year-old continues to live away from the spotlight, over 10 years on from a tragic skiing accident.

Schumacher went off course and hit his head on a rock while on holiday in the French Alps, with the F1 legend suffering life-changing injuries as a result.

It is still unclear how the former Ferrari and Mercedes star is doing all these years on.

The Schumacher family prefer to keep details about Michael and his condition under wraps, with only a few visitors ever allowed.

According to BILD, Mick's girlfriend Hasanovic has now been added to the list of those permitted to see Schumacher.

Mick and the 23-year-old often share loved up images of themselves on social media.

They have been dating since last August and now, months on, she's received the green light to meet her boyfriend's father.

According to the newspaper, there was a 'vote of confidence' at the end of last year before the decision was made.

Mick, his sister Gina-Marie and mother Corinna are all working hard to ensure Schumacher gets the privacy he needs.

As time goes on, however, hopes of a miraculous recovery appear to be fading.

Schumacher's brother, Ralf, has admitted modern medicine has made some things possible that weren't before.

Yet he's also said they've had to 'accept' life since the skiing accident, saying: "Unfortunately, sometimes life isn’t fair.

"We have to accept it."

Schumacher worked with Jean Todt during his time in F1.

But the former Ferrari chief says that while he doesn't miss his old friend because he's still here, the F1 driver is 'not the Michael he used to be'.

“Michael is here, so I don’t miss him,” Todt recently told L’Equipe.

“[But he] is simply not the Michael he used to be.

"He is different and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him.

“His life is different now and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him.

"That’s all there is to say.

“Unfortunately, fate struck him ten years ago. He is no longer the Michael we knew in Formula 1.”

Corinna Schumacher said in a Netflix documentary in 2021 that her husband was 'here, but different'.

"Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength, I find," she said.

"He still shows me how strong he is every day.

"We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable.

"And to simply make him feel our family, our bond.

"And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will. We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.

"'Private is private', as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael."
