Michael Schumacher's family and close friends have kept his condition under wraps since his devastating skiing incident.

Michael Schumacher's former Ferrari boss, Jean Todt, has admitted the F1 legend is no longer the man he once was 10 years on from his near-fatal skiing accident.

A new five-part documentary dedicated to Schumacher has been released in Germany with current and former drivers paying tribute to the seven-time world champion.

The series concentrates on Schumacher's rise to superstardom and touches on his tragic skiing accident from December 2013.

The end of this month marks a decade since that near-fatal day and Schumacher's wife, Corinna has maintained her husband's privacy ever since.

Only a select few people outside of the family have been allowed access to meet with Schumacher after he was moved back to his family home in Lake Geneva.

Todt is one of those granted access and he's explained how much the former F1 driver has changed since his skiing accident.

“Michael (Schumacher) is here, so I don't miss him," Todt told L'Equipe.

"But he is not the Michael of before.

"He is different and he is wonderful manner assisted by his wife and children, who protect him.

"His life has changed and I am privileged to be able to share moments with him from time to time.

"There is nothing more to say.

"Unfortunately, fate struck ten years ago, and he is no longer the Michael we know from Formula 1."

Schumacher's current condition has been kept under wraps by the family, but his son hinted at his father's state in the Netflix documentary.

"I think dad and me, we would understand each other now in a different way now," Mick said.

"Simply because we speak a similar language, the language of motorsport. And that we would have so much more to talk about.

"That's where my head is most of the time. Thinking that it would be cool that would be.

"I would give up everything just for that."

Schumacher's wife, Corinna, also gave her most in-depth interview on her husband during the documentary.
