Lewis Hamilton called the Canadian Grand Prix one of the worst races he had driven in his career.

A clip of Lewis Hamilton seemingly ignoring a post-race radio message from Toto Wolff in Canada has caused a stir online with some speculating about the pair's relationship.

Hamilton and Wolff will see their 11-year working partnership come to an end this year when the former joins Ferrari.

It brings an end to one of F1's most successful partnerships in history with Mercedes winning eight Constructors' Championships in that time and Hamilton clinching six world titles.

The last few years have seen both Mercedes and Hamilton struggle to rediscover their best form as Red Bull have dominated the sport.

Mercedes' woes appear to have played a part in Hamilton's decision to jump ship and join Ferrari in one last attempt to win a record-breaking eighth world title.

The Silver Arrows finally saw big improvements in Canada as they threatened to challenge at the front of the grid.

Hamilton impressed during practice, but he was unable to make it count in qualifying while George Russell took pole.

Russell was unable to convert Mercedes' pace into their first race win in nearly two years as he pipped Hamilton to the final podium spot.

The seven-time world champion was downbeat in the post-race media pen, but it was a clip from his cool-down lap that has gone viral on social media.

Hamilton exchanged words with his race engineer Peter Bonnington where he said: “Well done guys. Good job this weekend.

"Shame we didn’t get the result we deserved but let’s keep pushing.”

Wolff then jumped on the team radio to add: “Lewis, the positive is the car is back in performance. And we get on from here.”

However, Hamilton appeared to ignore the Mercedes team principal and he even shook his head in the cockpit as he brought his car to a stop.

The clip was caught on F1 TV as Hamilton stopped his car out on track and it caused a stir online.

One viewer wrote: "That head shake from Lewis after listening to Toto says a lot."
