Fernando Alonso has claimed that Adrian Newey's move to Aston Martin will have a greater impact than Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari switch.
Speaking at the F1 75 Live event press session at London's O2 Arena, the Spanish driver was unequivocal about the relative influence of designers versus drivers in Formula 1.
"Adrian Newey will always have more impact than any driver," Alonso stated firmly.
The comments come as both Newey and Hamilton prepare for high-profile moves in 2025, with the renowned designer joining Aston Martin whilst the seven-time world champion heads to Ferrari.

Alonso expressed uncertainty about Hamilton's potential contribution to Ferrari.
"I don't know what Hamilton will bring or add to Ferrari, it will surely be less than what a designer can bring," the Spaniard remarked.
The two-time world champion emphasised that all F1 drivers are already proven talents, noting that "the 20 of us here try to drive well and we have achieved things until we get to F1."
Alonso also shared insights about Newey's upcoming role at Aston Martin.

The Spaniard revealed that Newey would have complete freedom in choosing his focus at the team.
"Adrian is going to be a free spirit, you can't tell him what to do," Alonso added.
"The day he arrives, if he can give us a hand in 2025, fine. If he wants to work only in 2026, fine too.".
He added that team owner Lawrence Stroll had confirmed this hands-off approach.
"I asked Lawrence about it several times and he always tells me that he doesn't think we can control him," Alonso said.

"So much hard work has gone into preparing for the season ahead and we couldn't be more hungry or determined to succeed," he said.
"I came into the year with so much anticipation for this new chapter, and I'm even more energised now by the spirit and belief of everyone I've met over the past month. I couldn't be prouder to be on this journey with them.
"I can't wait to get out on track with Charles, push each other forward and do everything we can to take the team to the top.
