Isack Hadjar was consoled by Lewis Hamilton's father, Anthony Hamilton, after struggling during Sunday's Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
The Racing Bulls driver had gone into the day hoping to break into the points on his debut after finishing in P11 during qualifying.
However, Hadjar went into the barriers at Turn 2 with his rear wing and suspension broken as a result.
The Frenchman was seen being consoled by Anthony Hamilton after the race, having trudged off looking glum.

And Hadjar has now opened up on his difficult day, telling Sky Sports: “I knew it was going to be tricky, even on the installation laps to the grid but it was drivable and I’m just sorry for the team right now and my close ones watching the race, it’s embarrassing.”
When asked what Anthony told him, he added: “He told me to keep my head high and be proud. He did say I did great work on Saturday, it’s a nice gesture from him.”
Hadjar was one of three drivers making their F1 debut on Sunday.
Jack Doohan, Gabriel Mortoleto and Liam Lawson also crashed out of the race as Lando Norris secured glory.

Norris did well to press Max Verstappen hard last term.
And his victory on Sunday bodes well as the 25-year-old looks to win the F1 title for the first time in his career.
As for Hamilton, the Briton also endured a day to forget.
The veteran could only finish 10th on his first race for Ferrari since leaving Mercedes behind.

And Hamilton, reflecting on the day, admitted to being frustrated at his problems with the Ferrari car.
"It was very tricky and went a lot worse than I thought it would go. The car was really, really hard to drive today," he said.
"For me, I'm just grateful I kept it out of the wall because that's where it wanted to go most of the time.
"A lot to take from it and just getting acclimatised with the new power unit in the wet conditions.

"The settings it requires are different, and a different way of driving and a different set-up on the steering wheel.
"I hung out as long as I could, got in the lead at one point.
"Just the guidance with how much more rain was coming, was missing there, so I think we missed out."
F1 fans won't have to wait too long for the next race.

Hamilton has won the race six times over the years, though his last triumph was back in 2019 before a three-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
