Mercedes driver George Russell completed the podium in third position, ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen who finished fourth.
The result marks McLaren's impressive speed at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Meanwhile, Hamilton disqualified from his sixth-place finish due to technical infringements with his Ferrari.
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer found the seven-time world champion's car had excessive skid wear beneath the vehicle.
Measurements of Hamilton's rearmost skid were recorded at 8.6mm on the left-hand side, 8.6mm at the car centreline and 8.5mm on the right-hand side.
These figures fall below the 9mm minimum thickness limit required in post-race scrutineering.
Ferrari's Leclerc is also facing potential disqualification after finishing fifth in the race.

Alpine driver Pierre Gasly, who finished 11th, is facing the same issue with his car also failing to meet the minimum weight requirement.
Lance Stroll, who finished 12th, has now been promoted into a points position as a result of the DQs.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur described the situation as "very strange" with only one side of the garage affected.
