Sergio Perez is reportedly close to leave Red Bull following this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, despite holding a contract for the 2025 season.
The Mexican driver's supposedly imminent departure comes after a significant downturn in form, with team principal Christian Horner making telling comments about Perez being "old enough and wise enough to know what the situation is."
Horner's remarks follow a particularly difficult period for Perez, who has struggled to maintain his performance levels throughout the latter half of the 2023 season.
Perez's recent form has been particularly concerning, with the Mexican driver securing just 21 points since the summer break.

The last four race weekends have been especially disappointing, with Perez managing to collect only two points during this period.
His poor performances have directly impacted Red Bull's constructors' championship defence, despite the team's success in the drivers' title with Max Verstappen clinching his fourth successive title.
These results have intensified speculation about his future with the team, leading to mounting pressure on his position.
Speaking after Sunday's race, Horner addressed the growing speculation around Perez's position at Red Bull.
"I'm going to let Checo come to his own conclusions, nobody is forcing him one way or another," Horner told reporters.

Discussions about Perez's future are set to take place between Horner and the team following the Abu Dhabi race.
Given his existing 2025 contract, Perez could potentially transition into an ambassadorial role with Red Bull, similar to previous arrangements.
Alternatively, he might choose to follow Daniel Ricciardo's example and completely cut ties with the team.

While external candidates were initially considered, Red Bull's interest in Argentine driver Franco Colapinto has reportedly cooled following recent crashes.
The focus has now shifted to internal prospects, with F2 driver Isack Hadjar emerging as a potential candidate for RB next year.
The French driver currently sits just half a point off the top of the F2 standings, with a chance to claim the championship if he outscores Gabriel Bortoleto in Abu Dhabi.
