The motorsport icon, who ran his own Formula One team between 1991 and 2005, passed away on Thursday morning.

The 76-year-old had been diagnosed with cancer last year.

Tributes began pouring in shortly after the announcement of Jordan's death.

Among those paying respects was broadcaster Jake Humphreys, who described it as a "devastatingly sad and difficult day" for the sport.

Fans have also paid tribute to the F1 icon.

"Very sad news to hear Eddie Jordan has sadly passed away. A great guy & a huge thank you for what he did in @F1. My condolences + best wishes to his family & friends. Thank you Eddie. #RIPEddieJordan," said one user.

A second wrote: "Only one Eddie Jordan."

A third stated: "Incredibly sad to hear that Eddie Jordan has passed away. A trailblazer for Irish motorsport and a wonderfully funny pundit whenever he was on the F1 coverage - RIP Eddie."

Just last month, Jordan had provided a heartbreaking update about his condition while appearing on talkSPORT.

The F1 legend had been undergoing treatment since his diagnosis with bladder and prostate cancer in 2024.

His passing marks the end of a remarkable career that spanned decades in motorsport.

"Sorry guys, just a small thing, thank you," Jordan had said during his talkSPORT appearance. "I've just come out of getting chemotherapy and I'm not 100 per cent together here guys.

"I'm just not myself at this moment in time. I'm a little all over the place, so please forgive me."

Despite his deteriorating health, Jordan had continued to make public appearances when possible.

Jordan had previously announced his illness on his Formula For Success podcast, saying: "We've kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive."

The diagnosis came as a shock to many in the motorsport community.

Jordan was recognised with an honorary OBE in 2012 for his contributions to charity and motorsport.
