Teams are looking to add to their squad before tonight's 11pm deadline

  • Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa have all made signings
  • Ansu Fati has touched down from Brighton on loan from Barcelona
  • Liverpool are on the verge of signing Ryan Gravenberch and have rejected a huge bid for Mohamed Salah

That's it from us today. The majority of the big transfer deadline day deals have been announced.

Read on below for all the big news with Manchester United close to landing Sofyan Amrabat, having already recruited Altay Bayindir and Sergio Reguilon.

Tottenham are expected to sign Brennan Johnson, while Brighton have recruited Ansu Fati from Barcelona.

Manchester City and Chelsea have signed Matheus Nunes and Cole Palmer respectively.

And Liverpool, having turned down a huge bid for Mohamed Salah, are on the cusp of sealing a deal for Ryan Gravenberch.

Wolves slam Nunes in club statement

It was confirmed earlier on Friday that Matheus Nunes would be joining Wolves from Manchester City.

And Wolves chief Matt Hobbs has now slammed the Portugal international for the way he behaved prior to the move going through.

"I was disappointed with how it ended, it wasn't necessary the stance Matheus took, but we ended with a good resolution for everyone," said Hobbs, referring to Nunes going on strike.

"Matheus is a hugely talented player but would admit that last season he didn't hit the heights he expected, but it was a tough season for the team, so maybe he wasn't allowed to do that.

"We've lost a player with a lot of potential, a lot of ability, but the situation has led to us bringing a greater number of players in to improve the squad and provide competition in the group.

"The players here want competition in training, so while we've lost a good player, it's made us a more competitive and better squad overall."

Tottenham agree Brennan Johnson deal

Brennan Johnson

Brennan Johnson is poised to join Tottenham from Nottingham Forest

PA

Tottenham have had a quiet transfer deadline day so far.

But that's all set to change with the club agreeing a huge £47.5million deal to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

Forest have negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause should Spurs choose to jettison the Wales international at a later date.

A big statement of intent from Ange Postecoglou's side.

Merson thinks Liverpool have Salah issue

Speaking on Sky Sports, Paul Merson believes Liverpool have a big conundrum when it comes to Mohamed Salah.

"He's one of the best players in the world," he said. "It's a hard one. He's 31, £150 million. If you sell him for £150 million then what can you buy for that?

"They're not going to be better than Salah. At the same time, are they going to win the league this season? I don't think so.

"Do you take the money and try and rebuild and win the Premier League in the next four years?

"I'm a massive fan of Salah, he scores goals for fun."

Man Utd sign Reguilon

Sergio Reguilon

PA

Erik ten Hag, speaking ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday, has now confirmed Manchester United's capture of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

“He is here, yes,” he said.

“He is very experienced player, he has played for big clubs and played a lot of games in La Liga and the Premier League so has a very good background.

"So he can play very intense football so we are happy.

"We had a problem with Luke Shaw injured and Tyrell Malacia injured so we covered very well in an emergency situation.”

Liverpool reject huge Salah bid

Mohamed Salah Liverpool

PA

According to The Athletic, Liverpool have turned down a massive bid from Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah.

The Saudi Arabian side want to make the Egypt international the poster boy of their side.

Al-Ittihad's proposal was worth over £100million, a fee that would have made Salah one of the most-expensive players of all time.

For now, however, the forward looks set to stay.

Time to wind the clock back

What was the best transfer deadline day of all time?

Well, it'll take something spectacular to beat the summer of 2008.

Manchester City fans woke up to learn they were the richest club in the world and ready to splash the cash.

They set their sights on signing Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham - only for the Bulgaria international to end up at Manchester United instead.

City then opted to sign Robinho, who had previously looked set for Chelsea. It was a frantic day and the deals for Berbatov and Robinho were only confirmed extremely late on.

Clement Lenglet

Clement Lenglet has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season

PA

Aston Villa have signed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

A statement on their website read: "Aston Villa is delighted to announce the loan signing of French international Clement Lenglet.

"The centre-back joins Villa from Barcelona and returns to the Premier League having spent last term on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.

"Lenglet started his career with Nancy in his native France before going on to enjoy a spell at Sevilla.

"The move is subject to a successful visa application."

Marc Jurado reacts to Man Utd exit

Manchester United have allowed youngster Marc Jurado to leave the club, with the defender joining Espanyol.

And he's now sent a message to fans following his exit by saying: "Dear Manchester United fans, it is not easy to say goodbye to what has been my house for the last 3 years but the time is perfect to start a new chapter in my career.

"I have had the opportunity to play with some unbelievable teammates, that I will now call friends and worked with fantastic coaches that helped me along the process.

"There are too many people who works in the club to thank, they made my job easier.

"I’ll always support this football club.

"Once a red, always a red.

"Thank you, @manchesterunited."

When does the transfer window close?

Just in case you need to know...

The Premier League transfer window closes at 11pm tonight - but deals can still be announced after that, providing paperwork is filed on time.

That's the same with Scotland and Spain, too.

France's transfer window shuts at 10pm - whereas Serie A and Bundesliga sides have until 7pm and 5pm respectively.

One thing to note, however, is that the Saudi Arabian transfer window is open until September 7. Liverpool, given Al-Ittihad's interest in Mohamed Salah, can be forgiven for fearing the worst...

PA

Wolves have confirmed the signing of Tommy Doyle on loan from Manchester City.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “I’ve talked about players coming here with the hunger to kick on again, and Tommy is another one of those.

“He went to Championship and forced his way into the team, and showed he was beyond that.

"The next challenge is to prove he can do it every week in the Premier League and we’re here to help him, [manager] Gary [O'Neil] is here to develop him as a Premier League midfielder like he was, so I think we’re a perfect place for Tommy to show what he’s capable of."

Klopp insists no offer received for Salah

Jurgen Klopp was asked about Mohamed Salah at his press conference on Friday.

And the German insisted Liverpool were still hoping to keep hold of the Egypt international, despite Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad eyeing a spectacular swoop.

"The position remains the same. Absolutely no doubt about that. That's how it is. Nothing else to say," he said.

When asked if Liverpool had received an offer for Salah, he added: "Not as far as I know but that doesn't mean a lot to be honest."

Everton flop heading to Inter Milan

Davy Klaassen

If you ask Everton fans about Davy Klaassen, chances are they'll roll their eyes in dismay.

Big things were expected of the Netherlands international when he moved to Everton back in 2017.

Yet the midfielder toiled at Goodison Park and lasted just season before leaving the club behind.

Since then, however, he's rebuilt his career at Werder Bremen and Ajax.

And Klaassen has now earned a move to Inter Milan, with the 30-year-old poised to sign a two-year deal at the San Siro.

But Nottingham Forest are eyeing a deal as well and it'll be interesting to see where the Belgium international ends up.

Fulham have two targets to replace Palinha

Fulham are facing the unwanted prospect of losing Joao Palhinha today.

The 28-year-old was a huge hit upon moving to the club last summer, helping the Cottagers finish 10th in the Premier League table.

But the Portugal international now wants out with Bayern Munich keen to secure his signature.

Fulham are eyeing Scott McTominay as a potential replacement, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also in their sights.

The Netherlands international will move to Anfield for a fee of £34million, just a year after touching down at the Allianz Arena from Ajax.
