The Dutchman has spoken out after his victory on Monday night
Michael van Gerwen has taken aim at darts players he believes are 'scared' of Luke Littler following his World Matchplay win over the teenager on Monday night.
Van Gerwen and Littler's rivalry has already captivated the sport and, last night, it was the Dutchman who reigned supreme in the latest showdown between the two men.
Van Gerwen won 10-6 to progress to the second round of the tournament in Blackpool, with Littler struggling to perform at his usual high level.
Speaking after the win, Van Gerwen suggested there were several darts player running 'scared' of the 17-year-old, who won the Premier League earlier this year.

Speaking to Sportsboom, he said: "He’s not unstoppable and this is a sign for the rest of the players who are scared of him.
"Play your own game, instead of trying to play him."
Littler had been the favourite to beat Van Gerwen, especially given his impressive form so far this year.
But Van Gerwen couldn't resist a little dig at bookmakers for tipping the scales in favour of his rival, saying: "That's why the bookies aren't clever."
He continued: "Today I did a lot of good things and that’s positive for a change.
"A yes, 100 per cent [to this victory being his best win over Littler so far]. Especially over this kind of format, at this tournament.
"People forget how important this tournament is after the world championships.
"The beast has come out of me. I don't care what anyone says, that was a massive win for me."
In a separate interview with Sky Sports, Van Gerwen dubbed Littler 'incredible'. He also said his win meant the world to him because he's been going through a 'rough time', too.
"It is always enjoyable playing games of these standards," said the 35-year-old.
"He is incredible, but you have to face it and you can't let yourself down.
"I've had a holiday but I worked hard on my holiday. This means a lot to me because I've been going through a rough time, so to actually do something good and be rewarded for all your hard work is always nice.
