The teenager won 6-5 in Glasgow on Thursday night

Luke Littler has revealed he won't use earbuds to drown out noise from the crowd after his recent Premier League win over Luke Humphries was marred by controversy.

The 18-year-old secured glory in Glasgow with victories over Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross as he looks to win the prestigious competition for the second year in a row.

However, in his final showdown in Scotland, the match was plagued by issues with the crowd.

The referee was forced to plead with supporters to stay silent, with some whistling whenever Humphries went up to throw.

It also impacted Gerwyn Price on the night, with the Welsh star frustrated at the way fans did their utmost to put players off.

Several figures have condemned the behaviour of the crowd, with the PDC under pressure to keep whistlers in line.

But Littler, speaking to SportsBoom.com, has revealed that he won't use earbuds to make things less noisy - because he loves supporters and the way they behave.

"Probably not because I just love the crowd," he said when asked if he'd considered making a change.

“We all know, we’ve been here a long time. The fans are drinking or whatever they want to do.

"It’s been a long night for them, and it’s been a long night for us. We just need to focus and play darts."

Littler had struggled during the first night of the Premier League, having failed to beat Van Gerwen in Belfast.

But the 18-year-old bounced back impressively on Thursday, with the teenager outperforming his rivals to bank £10,000 in prize money.

Littler will be hoping to build on that victory when night three gets underway in Dublin on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, iconic darts referee Russ Bray has reacted to the crowd controversy and urged PDC chiefs to take action in order to bring the situation under control.

“The worst thing you can say as a referee is, ‘ladies and gentleman, please don’t whistle’, because all the idiots will start whistling. That’s the mentality of them," he told the Daily Express.

“All you can say is say, ‘ladies and gentlemen, please give the best of order’. Then it’s up to the security to do something about it, to get those idiots out. We don’t need them in there, it drives you nuts. It’s a thorn in the side of the game, for sure.

“How you police it, it’s very difficult. It’s hard to pinpoint one person when you’ve got thousands of people in the audience. It really needs the people in the audience to point them out.

“If an idiot next to me was whistling, I’d turn round and have a go at him. You’re there to enjoy the game, not have some clown spoil it.”

Bray added: “It’s their work. If someone was laying bricks, you wouldn’t go down there and play with his cement to put him off.

“I know it comes with sport. An Everton player taking a penalty in front of the Kop at Liverpool is going to get booed and screamed at. But he’s got another 10 people who can help him out.

“I absolutely detest whistlers. The minute someone whistles, they should be thrown out. Get rid of them, you don’t need idiots like that.”
