The teenager claimed the third pro title of his career on Sunday night

Luke Littler has admitted he's no longer idolising Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld after beating both men at the World Series of Darts.

The youngster overcame the duo, as well as Chris Dobey and Peter Wright, as he claimed victory in the competition in the Netherlands.

Littler's stock continues to grow, with the 17-year-old continuing to impress despite his young age.

In the past, he's spoken of his admiration for both Van Gerwen and Van Barneveld - who were two of his childhood idols.

Yet Littler has now revealed his stance on the pair has changed given he's proved he's capable of beating them.

"I wouldn't say I look up to them as I'm playing with them now," he said.

"I used to look up to them and now I'm beating them."

Earlier in the summer, Van Gerwen beat Littler in the first round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool.

Some then criticised the youngster, who was accused of 'lacking focus' after he squandered an early lead.

But Littler insists that loss was merely down to nerves and he's confident of securing more titles going forward.

"I wouldn't say the Matchplay was a dip, it's just I'll be honest I was nervous against Michael (van Gerwen)," he added.

"At the Winter Gardens, the crowd are really good but that was all a learning curve and I'm glad to beat him on his own soil tonight.

"Anyone wins nine legs on the trot against Michael wherever it may be but certainly here in Holland but I just felt unbeatable once again and I couldn't believe myself.

"Just winning nine on the spin and advancing to the final.

"I know there's a busy schedule ahead.

"Quite a few Majors to go the rest of the year and that's what I want to do pick up another one but it's all just practice now and onto the next one."
