Luke Littler cannot stop winning in darts

Luke Littler is unstoppable in the world of darts after claiming his second huge prize in the matter of days to leave his rivals struggling to keep up.

The Nuke defeated Stephen Bunting in the Players Championship final on Tuesday in Wigan - his third title of such this year.

And it was also the 17-year-old's second title in three days, having only just won his maiden World Series of Darts Finals title in Amsterdam.

Since exploding onto the scene at the World Championship this year where he reached the final before losing to Luke Humphries, Littler has been a revelation in the sport of darts.

And the teenager feels more than comfortable to take his skills up another notch in a shot aimed at his rivals.

His five-word statement to his victory in Wigan was: "It's just what I do."

Littler did not have an easy route to the final as he beat world champion Humphries 6-2 in the quarter-final, having beaten Kevin Doets earlier by the same scoreline.

And he showed no sign of slowing down by thrashing Dave Chisnall 7-2 in the semi-final.

It looked like another pasting in the final when he raced into a 5-1 lead over Bunting but the reigning Masters champion fought back to make it 7-7.

With a final 15th leg to go, Littler claimed the victory to bank £15,000 in prize money and add the Players Champion ship 20 to his bulging trophy cabinet.

That was his eighth piece of silverware this year, having also won the Premier League earlier in the year in his debut campaign and several Masters events.

"I had to switch on," Littler said allowing Bunting back into the final.

"Towards the end I was getting a bit tired but I was just saying to myself: 'One last push'.

"Stephen put everything he could on me but as soon as I settled for the 124 I knew I would stick my double 10.

"I think I played really well, I came here with loads of confidence, it's probably the first Pro Tour I have actually enjoyed playing apart from the first one (where) I won.

"But it's been good today and I can't wait for tomorrow."

The youngster also confirmed that he will be missing some events to contend with a busy schedule before the end of the year.

"I'll just pick and choose," he explained. "My manager will do what's best for me and I will tell him if I am not up for it or too tired.

"But there is still plenty more to win at the back end of the year."
