Meanwhile, on Thursday, Littler opted to change darts and use a new set.

When asked about that decision, he explained: "I wouldn't say there were any nerves.

"But I was playing with a fresh set of darts because the ones I used at the World Championship are being put away in a frame and I had to break in a new set."

Littler recently won the World Darts Championship, crushing Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final at Alexandra Palace.

He said after that victory that he wouldn't be too bothered if he didn't win another title in 2025.

But Littler is determined to keep winning as he continues his bid to be the No 1-ranked player in the world.

"I want to win as much as I can, win more titles than I did last year and break the nine-dart record.

“And I am looking forward not only to being world champion for the whole year but hearing (master of ceremonies) John McDonald introduce me as the newly-crowned champion of the world.”
