Luke Humphries has revealed Luke Littler is his 'nemesis' after beating the teenager on his way to winning the New Zealand Darts Masters on Saturday.

The 29-year-old claimed the prize by beating Damon Heta 8-2 in the final.


Earlier in the day, Humphries staged a terrific comeback to beat Littler and send his rival crashing out of the competition.

Humphries has now opened up in the wake of his triumph.

And the 29-year-old called Littler his 'nemesis' while admitting the youngster had been a 'tough' opponent.

"It was tough in the semi-final. It was a breeze coming through the stage," he said.

"Everyone knows that's my nemesis.

"It's kind of like something that pegs me back. I can't play to the best of my ability.

"I had to also change to a different set of flights, heavier flights.

"They kind of worked in the semis and I stuck with them."

Heta performed well during the tournament and made the final by dismissing Peter Wright.

He ultimately fell short, however, with Humphries able to claim the first world title of his career.

The darts star added: "Little did I know I'd have to go the furthest away to win it.

"I've been searching for this [for a long time].

"I didn't think I'd win a world title before I won a world series, but it happened that way.

"I felt one was coming but my performances over the last two years in the world series haven't been as sound as I wanted them to [be].

"Today, they still were not my best. But they were good enough."

Heta showed class after his defeat, with the Australian congratulating Humphries on his triumph.

He also joked that he couldn't stand the sight of his rival after seeing his hopes of glory ruthlessly ended.

"He makes me sick just looking at him," he quipped.
