The world No 1 is through to the quarter-finals of the competition

Luke Humphries has insisted he does get credit from the media, despite Gary Anderson saying the 29-year-old doesn't in a furious rant.

The 29-year-old is currently competing at the World Grand Prix and booked his place in the last eight of the competition with a 3-1 win over Germany's Ricardo Pietreczko on Wednesday night.

Speaking at the tournament, Anderson recently launched a passionate defence of Humphries.

He said the world No 1 doesn't get enough credit for everything he's achieved in the sport, saying: "It's not just being world champion.

“What has Luke [Humphries] won in the last two years? This is the thing. He has won just about everything.

“He's not just a world champion. He's there for a reason.

"World Champion was added onto his CV. He's won so much more, and the boy gets looked over every time, which I think is a load of b*****s to be honest.

"He's deserved everything that he's worked for, everything that he's got.

"And just to talk about other players, rubbish, absolute rubbish. Just give him a bit of respect.

"He's never ever mentioned, it’s always other people. Luke [Humphries] just goes along with it.

"As long as they’re talking about other people, he just carries on what he does.

"He’s handled it well. But deep down, he must be a bit cheesed off it. No, he just does what he does. He plays darts, runs, and that's it."

Speaking to SportsBoom, Humphries has now reacted.

The 29-year-old feels he does get the credit he deserves, saying: "I do feel like I've got a lot of credit.

“I don't feel like the media hasn't given me credit. I don't feel that way. I don't think that any of you guys have not given me credit.”

Anderson's comments have been seen as the Scot taking aim at how much praise Luke Littler gets in comparison to Humphries.
