The Welshman was too strong for his rivals on Thursday night

Gerwyn Price stormed to victory on night three of the Premier League Darts in Dublin, defeating Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in the final.

The Welsh star, sporting an Ireland green shirt to win over the local crowd, produced a masterclass of consistent scoring and precise finishing throughout the evening.

Price's path to glory included impressive wins over world champion Luke Littler in the quarter-finals and world number one Luke Humphries in the semi-finals, both with 6-3 scorelines.

Price's quarter-final clash with Littler saw him post a match average of over 102, alongside five maximum 180s.

The Welshman maintained his impressive form against Humphries, securing another 6-3 victory to book his place in the final.

Aspinall had reached the final after claiming his first win of the tournament against Rob Cross, followed by a 6-3 triumph over Michael van Gerwen.

In the final, Price initially started slowly but found his rhythm, breaking Aspinall in the seventh leg before sealing victory on double tops with another 100-plus average.

"It was a great night for me," Price told PDC.tv. "Luke Littler seems to bring the best out of me, so that was a great game to come through."

"Then to beat the world champion was big for me. I felt like the crowd got me through that game. It was like I was playing in Cardiff again."

The Welshman added: "I started a little bit slowly against Nathan. I missed a couple of opportunities, but I found my feet and I'm really glad to get a vital five points."

"I'm playing really well and the results are coming."

While the atmosphere at Dublin's 3Arena was more subdued than the previous week's Glasgow event, tension remained high throughout the matches.

Littler made a gesture for calm from supporters after hitting a 109 checkout to reduce his deficit to 4-2.

Unlike his comeback from 5-1 down in Scotland against Cross, there was no recovery this time as Price secured his fifth straight win over the teenager.
