The Welshman was unimpressed with the draught on stage in the Netherlands

Gerwyn Price has launched a scathing attack on the Rotterdam venue after his Premier League Darts defeat to Nathan Aspinall on Thursday night.

The Welsh star took to Instagram to vent his frustrations about drafts at the Ahoy Arena, which he claimed severely affected his performance.

Price was beaten 6-3 by Aspinall in the second quarter-final of Night 11 in the Premier League.

The 40-year-old's social media outburst quickly caught the attention of darts fans, with many responding critically to his complaints.

This isn't the first time players have raised concerns about wind conditions at the Dutch venue, which hosted around 11,000 spectators for the event.

Price suggested the drafts made the competition "pointless" and called on darts authorities to reconsider using the arena in future.

In his Instagram story, Price didn't hold back on his criticism of the Rotterdam venue.

"Gutted for myself, gutted for everyone that supports me," he wrote. "I'm so sorry but this week was pointless and we move to next week."

The former world champion claimed the playing conditions were unacceptable.

"Darts were blowing everywhere and after leg one, which was lucky, I knew it's pointless," Price continued.

"And where I was in the league after vital points it's not what I wanted. Hopefully, PDC will now stop coming here and look for alternative venues."

Price concluded with a direct message to fans: "Not good for the players, not good for the fans and not good for people that like a bet.

"Onto next week where we get to play in decent conditions."

Price's comments sparked a backlash from darts fans on social media, however.

Many accused the Welshman of simply giving up during his match against Aspinall.

"Price started playing like he gave up at 1-4 down," one fan posted.

Another wrote: "Price just gave up there. Can't say I'm surprised, not the first time from him."

Some questioned the validity of his complaints about drafts in the indoor arena.

"How can there be wind when it's indoors? I don't get it," commented one confused supporter.

"Biggest crybaby in darts. Bunting has the lightest darts out of everyone and is playing fine," said another fan.

The reference to Stephen Bunting was particularly pointed, as the player went on to defeat home favourite Michael van Gerwen that same evening.

The PDC defended the venue following Price's criticism, issuing a statement addressing the concerns.

"We have worked hard with the venue to minimise the effect of any air movement," a PDC spokesperson said.

They noted that their efforts had been recognised by competitors at the event.

"Which has been acknowledged by a number of players in tonight's event, who have said that conditions have improved from previous years," the statement continued.

Despite the controversy over playing conditions, the night's action continued with several notable matches.

Home favourite Michael van Gerwen suffered disappointment in front of his Dutch supporters.

The Dutchman lost 6-5 to Bunting, marking his third consecutive defeat in Rotterdam.

Bunting's success was short-lived, however.

He subsequently lost to Chris Dobey in the final of Night 11.
