James Anderson reveals big regret as England legend retires from Test cricket after West Indies win

With England on the verge of victory, Gudakesh Motie chipped a shot back.

But Anderson was unable to catch the ball, with debutant Gus Atkinson eventually claiming the final wicket to give England the win.

Speaking after the win, the outgoing Three Lions legend admitted he was 'still gutted' after dropping the ball.

"I am still gutted I dropped that catch," he said.

"It has been an amazing week. I have been overwhelmed by the reaction.

"I am just proud of what I have achieved."

Anderson said before the match that he wouldn't be crying, with the England icon delighted with everything he's achieved throughout his glittering career.

And the veteran is pleased that he was able to keep his emotions together.

"I think I have," he said.

"This morning was quite emotional with the two teams and the reaction of the crowd.

"I am still trying to hold them [the tears] back. I am just really proud.

"Playing for 20 years is an incredible effort. I am happy I have made it this far and stayed injury free.

"Playing for England is the best job in the world so I am lucky to have been able to do it for a long time."

Anderson was asked what he'll miss most as he prepares to adjust to life outside of the England starting XI.

And the bowler responded by saying: "The feeling we have got now of winning a Test match. There is no better feeling.

"Everyone has put in the graft. Sharing other people's success as well.

"Gus was amazing. Jamie Smith on debut as well, incredible. To get to sit in here after a win and celebrate those performances is an incredible thing I am definitely going to miss."

Another question put to Anderson was about his club career.

But he was coy when asked about potentially playing for Lancashire again, with the bowler's contract due to expire this summer.

"Can I enjoy my pint first? I have not thought that far ahead," he said.

"I will stick ahead for the summer to try help the bowling group as much as I can.

"We will see where life takes us."
