Tyson Fury's friends 'concerned' about boxing star after boozy night out in Morecambe

It comes less than a month after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, with the Briton losing on points after the battle had gone the distance.

Given Fury's battles with addiction over the years, some are worried about the 35-year-old.

And the Daily Mail say Fury's friends are concerned about how he's coping following his first-ever defeat as a professional.

One insider has told the publication that there is 'extra concern' for Fury's well-being given it came after his first defeat.

They're quoted as saying: "Tyson and alcohol do not mix well.

"He's previously used booze as a coping mechanism, which for any sufferer of ADHD is never a good idea.

"But given he's been drinking again after such a high-profile defeat, there is a fear within his camp that more than ever, his support network needs to be ready to safeguard him through what could be a particularly testing stage of his life.

​"He has never lost a professional boxing match before so they're in uncharted territory in regards to anticipating how he'll deal with it."

Fury has been open about his battle with addiction in the past.

Back in 2015, following his huge victory over Wladimir Klitschko, he ballooned to 28 stone and spent three years out of the ring.

Fury, by his own admission, sunk into a drink and drug-fuelled depression as he struggled to adjust to being in the spotlight.

He stunned the world by managing to earn a draw against Deontay Wilder in 2018, despite being knocked down.

Fury has since added to his boxing legacy by beating Wilder twice, in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

The 35-year-old has also previously confessed he considered taking his own life in the summer of 2016.

Speaking to Joe Rogan, he said: "I bought a brand new Ferrari convertible in the summer of 2016.

"I was in it on the highway and I got the car up to 190mph and was heading towards a bridge.

"I didn't care about nothing, I just wanted to die so bad.

"I gave up on life but as I was heading to the bridge I heard a voice saying, 'Don't do this Tyson; think about your kids, your family, your sons and daughter growing up without a dad.

"Before I turned into the bridge I pulled on to the motorway. I didn't know what to do, I was shaking, I was so afraid.

"I said I'd never think about taking my own life again."

Fury is set to meet Usyk in a rematch on December 21, with millions from around the world poised to tune in.

And fans will be hoping his night out in Morecambe is exactly that, rather than anything more serious.

Fury will fancy his chances of beating Usyk later this year, despite losing the first bout.

He felt he did enough to win in Saudi Arabia last month but, ultimately, paid the price after being wobbled in the ninth round.
