Iron Mike will return to the ring after a four-year absence on November 15

Mike Tyson has admitted that money isn't a factor in his decision to fight Jake Paul later this year.

The boxing icon is currently preparing for his return to the sport, having last fought Roy Jones Jr in an exhbition clash back in 2020.

Tyson has nothing left to prove after a glittering career in the sport, with his last professional fight coming back in 2005.

His decision to return to the ring, against a man 31 years his junior, has raised eyebrows with many figures unhappy that the clash is going ahead.

But Tyson insists he doesn't need the money, having banked a considerable amount through his cannabis empire out in the United States.

Instead, he says he's fighting Paul because he wants 'risk' in his life.

"I could be waiting on a check every day from cannabis," he said when asked if the finances involved were a factor behind his thinking.

"That's bulls***t to me.

"I'm a man; I want to go out there and I want to expose myself to risk.

"Sometimes I want to see who I really am. I want to see what I’m really made out of. I want to perform in front of the world.

"To me, that’s all I ever knew how to do since I was 14.

"This fight is not going to change my life financially enough. This is just what I want to do."

While professional fights usually feature three-minute rounds, Tyson's showdown with Paul will have two-minute rounds instead.

And though Paul has been blasted for fighting a man old enough to be his father, the 27-year-old can't be taken lightly.

Paul has won 10 of his 11 fights so far, with a defeat to Tommy Fury the only blot on his record.

Meanwhile, former boxing star Tony Bellew has spoken exclusively to GB News about the upcoming clash.

He says the only thing Paul stands to gain is 'financial freedom' - while also saying boxing fans know the whole thing is a 'gimme' and a 'joke'.

"More financial freedom, I don't think there's anything more that can be gained," he said.

"He gains nothing from boxing fans. From real boxing ones, it's a freak show, it's a gimme, it's a joke and that's just how it is.

"There's nothing that this guy can do that's going to solidify his place amongst boxers and get respect because he's not facing boxers. Until you face a professional boxer and beat one, face an English champion, you’ll get an awful lot of respect then.

"Face a British champion, face a European journeyman and win. But he doesn’t. He's very smart.

"I've gotta give him his due. From a business perspective, he's super, super smart. I've gotta credit him on that. That's the one thing I'll give him.

"But when it comes to it, it's just sad what he's doing. It really is. It's just in no way, shape or form can be condoned but it is what it is.

"People pay to tune in and watch. He's got a huge audience and you've just got to say to him well done on that."
